Announcing The 'tap me out' App
A little over a month ago a parent came to me with a distressing story. Their 15 year old daughter was at a party at a friend's house. It was during the day, the friend's parents were nearby, they knew all the kids. In short, they ticked the boxes.
One of the kids had brought ecstasy pills, they think taken from an older brother. There is no evidence that anyone took the pills, but what happened to their daughter was almost as distressing. She texted her parents and asked for them to come get her, that there were drugs, and she wanted out. One of her friends saw her texting and grabbed her phone, reading the messages out loud.
Their daughter was bullied hard that day, and subjected to weeks of in person and online bullying, at school and at home. She was targeting for being 'chicken' and for being a 'grass'.
The tap me out app is designed to get your children out of danger, without alerting those around them.
When they need a way out, they open the app, tap one button, close the app and done. Their designated emergency contacts receive a message, including their location.
You can download the app, or in the Apple app store, you can actually send it direct to your kid's phone.
